Why Malaysians Should Not Get The Iphone 4s

Okay before we continue, let me clarify.....I am an Apple fan boy.

Wheee..

Anyway, since the Iphone 4s will be launching in Malaysia soon (December 16 to be exact, for those who are not aware, hee), I suppose it is only right that I join in the furor and frenzy.

Maxis and Digi are also in the fray with each company dishing out Iphone 4s deals like freebies (but its not), and looking at the title of this post, I am proven wrong even before I can start writing down the reasons as Digi's online pre-booking has been filled to the max. Wow, right?

Here goes.

Reason Number 1

Siri.

Siri is the main selling point of this device, I should say. If you want to talk about processor, Samsung's Galaxy series could very easily beat that with the new Note and of course, the SII.

Camera don't need to say la.

Even if they (Apple) say that support for our Bahasa Kebangsaan will be available soon, but how good can it be? An Englishman pronouncing BM words are so much different with how we do it here.

Add in with all the slangs and "bahasa baku", its gonna be a real tough nut to crack.

Siri only works well with internet connection, and is limited by the coverage area of each telco, which brings me to the second point....

Reason Number 2

Digi or Maxis.

Maxis has the best coverage. Digi has the cheapest plans. But both has Malaysian standard internet connection.

Owh come on, how can we compare with the internet connections of the US giants like AT&T and SPRINT? Most of their test done are on super-fast connection, and to let our country's telco to run do this is like to let a horse pull a plane. Slow, but possible.

Imagine you are in places like Kelantan, and you need Siri, where will she be? Probably stuck in the border of Kedah. Sorry Sean Eng, hehe.

Reason Number 3

Plain expensive. And the hype made it so.

I do believe that this generation Iphone has been over-hyped, and when people was expecting something amazing, Apple gave something great. Not bad, but not good enough.

Its like charging people slowly for some features that will be slowly "improved" over each version of the Iphone. I can bet the next Iphone has "better" camera, graphics etc...

Has Apple run out of creative juice?

No wonder they hate Android.

Ah, since I am at this, why not let's talk about the arch-nemesis, Android?

So what does it really mean to speculate?

Emotions. That's what its based upon.

The more I read, the more I realize I don't know.

Analysis after analysis, charts after charts, numbers, figures, technical, fundamental, bla bla bla, sometimes you just get drowned over by all these terms and techniques.

So what is the best thing to do??

Read and learn more, of course.

But that is what I WILL do if I were an Android (A preview of my next post, hehe.)

So I speculate. Ride the wave.

My pay is here! But what do i do with it??

Second month pay of working life just came in not long ago.

So the main question is, what do I do with it??

The first step that I believe we should do is to Pay-Yourself-First.

What is that?

I do believe many of you who read financial tips and advices recommend you this, and the way to implement it is to have two bank accounts.

So, if gaji comes in to Bank A, immediately transfer a set amount to Bank B. And leave it there as it is.

Your monthly expenses should be budgeted around the amount that is left in Bank A.

Another advanced step you can take is to open up an FD account in Bank B (where your savings are). Since you are not going to touch it, why not let it generate some interest (albeit a very low one, but better than nothing).

Many banks nowadays offer online opening of FD, and the upliftment is equally easy with just a click of the mouse.

Another question that is usually asked is how much do I Pay-Myself-First??

The answer is as equally obvious....it depends on you.

Some may be able to put more as they don't have partners, loans (car, house, PTPTN) and other attachments. But hey, at least you did put some amount it, right??

So, do the right thing! Pay yourself first! :)

Fears

These few days, my mind just can't stop worrying and thinking of so many things.

Thinking when will I start working.

Worry I will not be ready for my job, not being able to answer all the questions from my seniors.

Thinking about the direction of my life.

Worry whether I have enough money to use in such bad economy.

Thinking whether to invest in stocks.

Worry whether things will turn out well this time around.

Thinking whether to further my studies.

Maybe I worry to much. Maybe I think too much.

I guess this is the period of life where you decide where your life would end up to be.

Quarter-life crisis? Probably not. Just need more focus.

Its time to stop thinking and start DOING!!

Apps for Iphone/Ipod touch for Pharmacist or any Drug Dealer..

Okay, just to clarify, this post is not the best place to look if you really want a complete list of good and useful medical apps (you can just Google and find a lot, seriously) but I don't see any harm in sharing what I have found so far that could be useful for us as we step into the working world as pharmacist soon..

Before I begin, need to also clarify that I already "ahem" my ipod touch, and so for some of the apps, you must "ahem" first before you can use it..

So let's begin..

1) iBooks.

Hmmm, why iBooks first? Well, I think it is very useful if you want to refer to our Malaysian CPG which can be downloaded as PDF format. And the best thing? It is free! I mean both the iBooks and CPG..hehe. Latest CPG can be downloaded from http://www.acadmed.org.my/index.cfm?&menuid=67. Other than the CPGs, other PDF that I put is as listed below:-

- Pharmacotherapy 7th ed (red colour).

- National Antibiotic Guideline 2008.

- BNF 58.

- Sanford Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy 2010.

- Stockley's Drug Interaction.

- Methadone dispensing.

If you want to have any of those listed above, just PM/msg/or comment below and I will send you the PDFs.

2) Lexicomp

Undoubtedly one of the most useful medical app, but it cost a bomb. For ways to "ahem" it, I can teach you how (credits to Lee Hua Lun, B106). For this app, you can have most drugs listed in our big blue book of Lexicomp. Other features like drug interaction checker, medical dictionary, medical emergency, identify brand names and a lot more other databases. But i mostly use it to check drugs doses, brand names, and drug-drug interaction.

3) Micromedex

You can find this app directly FREE from the appstore. Yup, it is free! I suppose this could be one of the first medical app that you downloaded when you realize that it is free..lol..

Just like Lexicomp, you can check out a lot of drugs here, but unlike Lexicomp, it lacks a lot of features as well. Anyhow, it is a very good free app for drug databases, and is constantly updated, so do check AppStore for updates often.

4) Medscape

Another good free medical app. You can search drugs base on its class, search for disease, and it also has an interaction checker as well, which is cool. It also has a "News" section, if you want to check out latest medical news..yawn.. :P

5) IV Drug Handbook

Just like its title, this app is for you to check for drugs that are administered via the IV route. I am not sure how this is useful yet, but I think should be a neat app for checking whether a drug can be given via IV route or not.

6) BNF for Children 2010

Just like BNF, but err..for children.

7) BNF 60

Okay, what is the difference with the BNF 58 that i mentioned in iBooks section? Well, this is an app, not a PDF format file, so you can search for drugs and other topics easier. (Latest update is BNF 61).

8) Pharmacotherapy Handbook (app version)

(explanation just like number 7)

9) Antibiotics Advisor 2011

Whats a pharmacist without knowledge of antibiotics right? :) This app totally focuses on antibiotics, and it also can calculate dosages, and has list of all microbs and their susceptible antibiotics. Neat.

Extra:- The following two are actually medical E-books in the form of .CHM format. I believe some of you may have these two in soft copy form.

- Applied Therapeutics - The clinical use of drugs 9th ed. (2009)

- Goodman and Gilman. The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics 11th ed. (2006)

Okay, to access both in your i-devices, first you would need an app call iCHM. It reads the .CHM format of both files. After you install it, you need to first be in place where there is wifi. Then choose the "Manage" options on it and just follow the instructions, its that easy. After that you can access both e-Books using the iCHM app. (i confess i never read both..yet..)

I think I will stop here. The main reason I post this is that with the increasing amount of people getting i-devices, I thought these would be useful when we start our PRP-ship soon. Some of these apps can be found even in Android platform, and i think there are some medical app in Android that cannot be found in AppStore.

With soooo many apps available, the important thing is to know which is useful. The list was just done impromptu when I suddenly got the idea to write this post, so in the end, its really up to you :) Feel free to comment and add in any medical/pharmacy app that you think will be a life-saver!!

Of course nothing beats memory and practice. Apps are just there for reference or when you have that drug name in your head and you just can't remember what is it used for.

*note: use these apps with caution, especially in front of senior pharmacist. They may not like it..hehe..

Who on earth is this??

Honestly, I myself don't even know this guy existed, until I came across some news about prediction by him of the day that the world would end, which happens to be in the past tense, 21st May 2011.

Just Google about him and you will find countless news, articles and not forgetting criticism about him and his predictions, including all the ones in the past. Yeap, he predicted before, and it did not came as he and his followers expected.

What went wrong??

It is not what, but who went wrong. From what I read, Harold Camping predicted his date(s) based on calculations that is supposedly derived from the Bible, the Word of God.

And even with his past failed predictions, many of his followers still believed him and went to the extent of campaigning on the streets, quitting their jobs and selling off their properties.....Well, you don't see this in Malaysia, sure kena tangkap one...

The point is, nobody knows when the rapture will happen. When the end will come. When He will return again. Even in the Bible, it is stated as below:-

- Matthew 24:36-"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

- Acts 1:7 He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.

Harold Camping has his own ideology, and he DOES NOT represent all Christians in the world. He is just the extreme side of religion, if I put it correctly...okay..getting sensitive here...

Anyway....I will be having my convocation tomorrow, just have to blog this cos it has been in my mind for quite some time..hehe..

For those of you who doesn't know who this is, it is probably because he goes by his famous character that he played on television long time ago, back in the 90's. He is the Nyonya lady in the sitcom "Baba and Nyonya".

Not the one on the right nor the left. Center one.

Look familiar??! But of course only applicable to those that saw him before on TV..hehe

But this post is not about Nyonya, his comedy or jokes...its about his cooking. It all happened when I was in Malacca to attend a meeting for upcoming event which supports smoke-free environment known as 'SayWhat'. Speaking of "SayWhat", do check out my last post yea ;)

When you reach the place, you will be greeted by this classic build restaurant, which I assume is Baba-Nyonya style..

Stations of the Cross

Ah, an attempt to resuscitate my blog, since I am on a break now. Rise my child! Rise!! (not related to what I am about to post)

As we know, last Sunday was Palm Sunday, and this coming Friday would be Good Friday, where Jesus would be crucified on the cross.

On the third day, He rose again, which brings us Easter Sunday.

In conjunction with this holy week leading to His death and resurrection, my church organized a week-long event called "The Stations of the Cross", where people can just come and pray and meditate upon His words.

The concept is that there are 7 "stations", or "events" that happened, starting from His arrival to Jerusalem, and ends on the day He rose again. Each station has it's own description, verses and thoughts to ponder upon :)

The beginning of the "journey"

Here, the two words 'Via Dolorosa' means Way of Grief, or Way of Suffering in Latin.

It is a street in Jerusalem where Jesus walked, carrying his cross on the way to his crucifixion. I also just found out about this 'Via Wikipedia'.

The part where Jesus feet was washed.

The Last Supper. Real bread.

The night where Jesus was betrayed.

The cross where He was crucified.

The empty tomb.

Not all 7 "stations", or "scenes" are depicted here, though, but each has their own description and verses to be studied. You will be filled with different emotions with each stations as you sit and meditate upon His words. I did not personally try each station, though, hehe..

Anyways, as Good Friday and Easter is coming, let us not forget the true meaning of it all. That He died on the cross for our sins, and that He rose again to be our Saviour.

Many may dispute this event as blasphemy or theories be churned out to disprove this, but what matters most is what you believe in your heart, and also to set an example for those around you. I admit I had not been a very good example to those around me, I falter and fail with my actions and my words. But I know I can do better, with His grace.

And what does GRACE means?

My Car is Found!!

Its true! My car has been found by the police..

Flashback:-
-It was stolen on 28th Oct.
-Gave up hope of finding it.
-In the process of claiming insurance.

Then yesterday, as I went to Pudu Police Station to submit my insurance claim, the Seargent in-charge, Sg Hamid told me that there is progress and my car might be found already..I was elated! My gut was all over the place as I followed the Sg into the police compound and he asked me to look around...and there it was...

Wow. My first thought was:"They didn't even bothered to change my number plate". They as in the thieves.

But there were dents here and there, and my car hood was changed into black. Ugly.

My car was found in Puchong, and two culprits were caught, but released on bail.
Apparently they are just the buyer and the real person who stole it is not known.

After confirming again and again that my car was not used for any crime (just in case the police/samseng come after me while driving this car), me and my dad agreed to just repair it and claim from insurance. Bye bye, NCB.. :(

There are good and bad in finding back my car:-
Good
-Got car to drive again
-No need wait insurance to pay (which will be usually lower than the insured price),

Bad
-No money from insurance.lol
-Scared if get mistaken for the previous owner. Just in case if the previous owner was not in good company.

Lesson that can be learned from this incident:-
1) If you don't have insurance for your car, get one. It really helpful in times like this. And best if 1st party insured instead of 3rd party.

2) Always put extra steering lock for your car as it gives you extra protection. It may not 100% prevent theft, but it will definitely make the thieve think twice.

3) Touchwood, if your car is stolen, tell the truth to the adjuster* about what happened cos if they found out any discrepancies in your statement, then it make things harder.

4) If you have GPS in your car, NEVER set the Home location. And NEVER leave your housekeys in your car as well. They might break into your house, using the GPS to locate your house.

5) Stolen things can be replaced, life cannot. Dun risk your life or be a hero, just in case if the thieve harms you. I was lucky.

So now just have to wait till my car gets fixed. I want to thank Mogan, Andrew and Pang Tsen for helping me out with the adjuster* thingy. They are the unsuspecting collateral people in this case as they were there when it happened, sorry to pull you guys into this. And also to all who fetched me here and there these few months (Venus, Andrew, Pang Tsen, Chi Lun, Kian Ti, SuChen, Joshua..i hope i did not miss out anyone, sorry if i did), and all others for the support.

*an adjuster is a person who is hired by the insurance company to verify the incident. He will be in-charge of taking pictures and taking down statements of the victim and witnesses. He will then report to the insurance company regarding the progress of the case.

Yesterday, we went to celebrate at Bukit Jalil Seafood Restaurant. Decent place, nice food, especially the dessert. Thanks to Jane..i mean Elyn for organizing it :)

It was actually my first time i think having a birthday celebration in a seafood restaurant, so it was a nice break from the ordinary..hehe..
We even had a mock wedding training session for future references.

Anyway, this could be the last birthday I can celebrate with you. And no, this is not an emo post.

And to David, sorry again I cannot celebrate your birthday on Sunday. Gomenasai!

Mabuhay! (Hello in philipino, or tagalog as they know it)

To be honest, I am more excited about sitting an airplane rather than reaching the destination cos I never sat on a plane before..hee..

No, its not the air-stewardess that I'm looking forward to, but to get the feel of flying. As AirAsia always say:"Now everyone can fly. Especially Fong Kin Man".

4 of us will be heading to Cebu (David, Kwong howe, boon fong and me) on thurs. We will however meet in Singapore to gamble one day first at the newly opened casino in Sentosa:

But if we do so, we will probably end up losing our money and have to sell our air tickets, so it was not a good plan.

This trip is part of our elective program, where we are going to help do some labour work over in Cebu. But I'll probably be busy taking pictures that I may sometimes think I am a tourist there.

Apparently the scenery and places to visit there is very nice. If you find Google images for Cebu, you will get great pics like these:

We were amazed by the beautiful beaches and places of attraction that I formulate a conspiracy theory that the "bad people" there purposely place these pictures to attract tourist then they capture us. After some intense research, we realize that it was quite true. I mean the pictures, not the "bad people theory".

Anyway, hope things turn out ok, and we will have a good experience there. Will be missing you though.

Instructions::

1. Copy the above code in a note pad and save the note pad in your pc with the name name.bat (that is with the extension of .bat). You can replace the name portion with anything u want.

2. A batch file will be created where you have saved. Now double click on it , it will make a folder with the name "Locker" at the same place where the batch file is saved.

3. Now add the files you want to be locked in that folder.

4. Double click on the batch file. It will ask for locking the folder formed. Type y(yes). The folder will be locked and hidden.

5. To unlock,double click on batch file again and enter 123 as the password in the new window opened.

(Note:)
- After locking the folder, you can actually remove the bat file from that location so that others cannot use it. When u want to unlock the folder, just place the bat file in that location and double click (refer step 5)

- Locking a folder means it will be hidden and only you knows its there, and even if a computer is asked to search for "Hidden" folders, it will NOT show the locked folder.

How To Use The New IMU Printer

I encountered some difficulty using the new IMU printers, so I hope this post will help you when you want to print.

1) Get your pin number from IT department

2) When you want to print a document, a pop up will come out and ask for USERNAME and PASSWORD. Both of it is your ID. And must be capital letter.

3) Then go to the printer machine. No need to turn it on. Straight away go to the black box at the right hand corner and type in your pin number and followed by a #. Dun forget to press the # after keying in your pin.

4) The printer will automatically start printing. I think paper is provided. If not enuf, can top up at the first drawer just below the Ricoh Aficio label facing you at the bottom.

What is your stand on plastic surgery?

A swipe of the blade to change how you look, is it the best option?

6 years ago, in 2003, I was persuaded by my mum to go see the dentist, as there were 2 big dracula teeth growing from outside my gums. The first visit to the dentist was scary (i mean, which visit to the dentist is not scary, rite..unless we are sadist ;P)
From then on, one appointment lead to another appointment and by the time I knew it, I was going to have braces for my (slightly) crooked teeth.

Both of my dracula teeth were extracted, plus with 2 more extractions to make room for the braces. My God, the injection needle can kill an elephant! Unless, of course, you are killed by it when it falls on you.

Ok, so the braces was on in 2004, and I had it for a year or so. Then along the way, there was another "complication". My lower jaw was protruding out, and both my upper and lower jaw just won't bite. This was me then:

I even joked that I can store rain water everytime it rains. Serious.

An option came from the dentist. Surgery. So, in the end of 2006, I went under the knife to slice a bit portion of my lower jaw, and today, two metallic rods are holding my jaws together.

So far no problem when it comes to metal detectors, and don't try to be funny by putting magnets near my mouth...hmmm...

Well, this title should be Confessions (part 2), after all, only a few knows about this. Just to tell la, in case if one day my jaws falls apart and then have to help me fix it...

From a single appointment to check out my dracula teeth, it ended up in braces and surgery..haih..but I have no regrets, really. If you know of anyone who has this problem, assure them that surgery can fix it, and it is not much of a hassle. Well, this surgery adds up to my total surgery in life to 2. What about the first one? When we visit shops, malls, stores or restaurants, these are the few words that we would like to hear from the staffs before we leave, and especially after we have made a purchase. But...there are some scenarios where these words are better kept under the drawer, for example:

- Clinics
- Hospitals
- Police station
- Coffin shop
- Jail
- Principle's office
- My toilet

and the worst of all is...IMU exam hall in this coming few weeks.

Actually the title really should be: " Cute kittens up for adoption".

Few weeks ago, a female cat came to Venus' place and there, she gave birth to 4 cute little kittens. Since then, they have been staying at her place, but however, she cannot take in any more cats into her house as she is rearing a few cats already.

So, in this post, I hope to call out for anyone interested in adopting any of these kittens, and hopefully they can find good homes to be taken care of. Or if you know of anyone who has any interest in having kittens as pets, please do tell them as well. All kittens are in purr-fect health, and did I mention they are cute? :)

He wipes the sweat off his eyebrows that is obstructing his vision...with squinted eyes against the scorching sun, he tries his best to watch the game carefully..his legs trembling, hands with palm open, while trying to shake off the feeling of nervousness..he watches as the ball bounces to and fro, from teamates to opponents..shouting at his last men to watch that lone striker, waiting to pounce on a loose ball..as his opponents draw near, he readies himself, legs on its tips, watching for any shot coming or possible danger approaching..there it comes..with eyes on the ball, he jumps, arm stretched. He picks himself up from the ground, heave a relief, and it goes on. It was just the beginning.

Confession time (Part 1)

Today, I donated blood.

There are a few reasons why I donate blood:-
- It is healthy.
- It helps those in need later.

Ok, in this confession, I will tell the REAL reasons why I donate blood:-

1) To obtain the "Keistimewaan Untuk Penderma-penderma Darah", which is written behind the blood donation book. It says "Percuma rawatan pesakit luar dan rawatan perubatan dan wad kelas satu untuk 10 tahun", but this requires me to donate up to 50 times at least, which I am trying from now...maybe next time when I reach 40-50 years old I can achieve that goal.

2) The first time I donated in college, I saw one lecturer who has donated 26 times already. I was inspired by him, so I decided to be like him, just trying to accumulate the numbers to as many as I can. I want to overtake him.

3) To eat the karipap after donating.

I know my motivation for donating is not so right..hee...

Power Up your Powerpoint

I find this article quite interesting..regarding tips on preparing a good powerpoint presentation. There are actually many tips available online, but I just find these quite useful:-

The Problem with Powerpoint

(Microsoft, dun come and sue me ok?)

If you have worked in an office in the Western world in the past 25 years, you will probably have sat through a PowerPoint presentation. But there's a problem. They're often boring, writes presentation expert Max Atkinson.

In the past 25 years, I've asked hundreds of people how many PowerPoint presentations they've seen that came across as really inspiring and enthusiastic.

Most struggle to come up with a single example, and the most optimistic answer I've heard was "two".

So what are the main problems?

SCREENS ARE MAGNETS FOR EVERYONE'S EYES

Beware of anyone who says that they're "just going to talk to some slides" - because that's exactly what they'll do - without realising that they're spending most of their time with their backs to the audience.

Yet eye contact plays such a fundamental part in holding an audience's attention that even as brilliant a speaker as Barack Obama depends on an autocue to simulate it.

So remember that the more slides you have and the more there is on each slide, the more distracting it will it be for the audience - whereas the fewer and simpler the slides are, the easier it will be to keep them listening.

READING AND LISTENING DISTRACTS AUDIENCES

If there's nothing but text on the screen, people will try to read and listen at the same time - and won't succeed in doing either very well.

If the print is

too small to read

(like this blog, cos i dunno how to enlarge the font..), they'll get irritated at being expected to do the impossible. Nor does it help when speakers say "as you can see", or the equally annoying "you probably won't be able to read this".

SLIDES SHOULDN'T JUST BE NOTES

Few speakers are willing to open their mouths until they have their first slide safely in place. But all too often the slides are verbal crutches for the speaker, not visual aids for the audience.

Projecting one slide after another might make it look as though you've prepared the presentation. But if you haven't planned exactly what you're going to say, you'll have to ad lib and, if you start rambling, the audience will switch off.

To avoid this requires careful planning. Do this before thinking about slides and you won't need as many of them - and the ones that you do decide to use are more likely to help to clarify things for the audience, rather than just remind you of what to say next.

INFORMATION OVERLOAD

You think bullet points make information more digestible? Think again. A dozen slides with five bullet points on each assumes that people are mentally capable of taking in a list of 60 points. If it's a 30-minute presentation, that's a rate of two-per-minute.

The trouble is that PowerPoint makes it so easy to put detailed written and numerical information on slides that it leads presenters into the mistaken belief that all the detail will be successfully transmitted through the air into the brains of the audience.

THE BULLET POINT PROBLEM

A Microsoft executive recently said that one of the best PowerPoint presentations he'd ever heard had no slides with bullet points on them.

This didn't surprise me at all, because we've known for years that audiences don't much like wordy slides and don't find them as helpful as pictorial visual aids.

What does surprise me is that so many of the program's standard templates invite users to produce lists of bullet points, when the program's main benefits lie in the creation of images. If more presenters took advantage of that, inspiring PowerPoint presentations might become the norm, rather than the exception.

When Sotong Turns 21 (Part 2)

Today is ong-ong day. 09/09/09.

So, we group 9 (during orientation, Taiko), with 9 people went to celebrate at Fusion Haven. Even though the place existed loong time, but I din know about its existence..lol..the food and the atmosphere there is great...recommendable..

And in addition, Pang Tsen and I received a special gift from all the Taiko's (thank you Ling Wei!!!!). Its just so nice, it has messages and pictures taken during orientation 2007.

Just when I thought it was over, suddenly b107 classmates started coming in with a cake..so surprised!! Thank you all! And special thanks to Kean Ping for organizing this surprise, I know I still owe you a lot..

Thank you all who made this a great surprise! Each and everyone of you made me felt special. But since mine is already past, I would like to take this opportunity to wish Pang Tsen Happy Birthday!!

Well, ong-ong day may be over, but remember that everyday is a new one give by God, and it is us to live it accordingly. A flashback of memories...

Today after cheerleading practice, I did not suspect anything, so I went back home. But along the way, I got diverted and thats when my girlfriend and friends went to prepare in my apartment.
What a lovely surprise!! Especially to be able to see you there :)

I have to control my urge and reduce my comsumption of sugar d....scared of getting diabetes...especially the cans of Coke that I have in between classes. But no fear, cos now we got insulin jabs. Here are the correct ways to use them.

MPS Dinner

Last Sunday, I was invited to a MPS dinner in Istana Hotel (batch rep only :P), sponsored by IMU. The ticket was worth about rm300 (dunno why so expensive).

Got good food, good performaces, belly dancing, fashion show, and good people. Here are some of the people I sat with:-

We stole bread from the next table, cos we hungry.Dunno who is the girl. Suddenly she appear.
Ooo..why got 3 round round things above her head..weird..
My tutor. Suddenly he turned around and say:" ID please.."
She haven't tell me the CNS exam until where..stress a..

Hmm...maybe in a few years time I'll be up there also, getting an award...lol...but for now, back to designing my award-winning retail pharmacy first.

After the dinner, went to see Man Utd lose to Chelsea pulak...dang...

Down with food poisoning. Not sure what caused it...probably the satay? Mi hun? Hmm...
Tried drinking milo to fill up my stomach but also rejected.
This morning felt better, so decided to go to class, but halfway through Anaesthesia lecture cannot tahan then went and vomit again. Twice.

(hmm..why does it always feel good after vomiting..i wonder..)

That Fateful Event

I do believe that there are some events that happened in some time or another that will change or shape a person's life. Mine happened a few years back, in the year 2005.

It was after Form 5, and I was really glad that SPM was over. I thought I could at last enjoy my holidays to the max, until a call came from my secondary school. It was an invitation to attend some sort like a leadership camp, known as Kem Kepimpinan Yayasan Tun Razak. The original candidate was actually one of the best student then (and still is, i think), and somehow he turned down that invitation. I was like the last resort from the list of candidates. Lol..anyway, it sounded fun..

The participants of the camp was from all around Malaysia (most Malays, of course), and the best part was that they are all the best students from their respective schools. Did I say best? I mean...scary....intimidating. I was nothing. Elek. I held no post in school. I happily go to class, go to my tuition, do my work, and I was contented. Most of them are either head prefects, president of some society, or both. I felt like a dwarf amongst the giants.

To cut the long event short, the two weeks programme aimed to instill leadership and for the calibre students to get to know each other so that we can learn more from one another. It was really something crazily new to me, as I was not into leadership (not even now). Thus the saying:"He who does not lead, will follow." I am indeed a follower. I would opt to follow, anytime.

And i can clearly remember one "game" we played. We were divided into teams of 10 members each. As for my other 9 members in my team, i got to know them better, ate, played and planned things with them during the first week. They were friendly and supportive. The "game" placed the team in this scenario:-

"10 of you are stranded in an island. The volcano is erupting and if you do not leave the island immediately, you will DIE. There is only a way out...a helicopter. But, it can only fit 9 people. You are not allowed to sacrifice yourself. List out reasons why you must be saved, and choose one member to leave behind to die. Majority counts."

I was the one. I was left to die. Why? Because, just because, I was a nobody. I had no influence. All the other members had reasons for themselves, and I don't. How devastating it was, to know that people wants you dead. Anyhow, it was just a "game".

So..ya..it struck me. I was a nobody. But I don't want it to stay that way. Is there something I can do? Something I can change about myself? I learn slowly, how to be more responsible, to be more than just an ordinary. I don't know how far I have achieved from then on, but I will make sure, that I will not be the one to be left for dead...ever.

I was in pharmaceutics lab, and a message came in saying:" I have perplexing news for you".
Wondering how serious it was, I ran over to your place in LT2 (lied to lecturer I was going to pee pee). You were having choir practice, but since you haven't finished, so I waited after my pharmaceutics lab to see you again. And there you were. And you changed my life from then onwards.

Wondering how things could be different, if today did not happen. I cannot imagine it..hugs!
You were in a complicated situation then, and I was having my own propaganda..opss..did I say propaganda..i mean..uhm...plans..no...uhm..intention?....

Now that things are settled (i hope...except that the "asshole" tag still stays, i guess..), I want you to walk with me in my journey. I love you.

Krispy Kreme adventure

Today is the day.
I go Mid Valley with Mr. David.
I was quite excited.
Why le? ........Because finally I can try the famous Krispy Kreme doughuts that caused so many health problems to Americans.
Mmmm...deliciousss...
We were so excited that we bought 3 original and one cheese flavor.

The Verdict:

The taste is so-so, there was no cream inside as i expected...hmmm...dunno why people say its nice...now I am hyperglycemic already (pops some metformin)..

Well, after this, I dun think I will ever go back for more. But I will surely go for more of these..

Wow. Just amazing. I did not think that my dream of seeing Man Utd would come true so fast. I thought of saving up and head to Old Trafford next time in the future, but today, 18/7/2009, they came to me instead.

The walk to Stadium Bukit Jalil. So hazy.

The stadium at almost full capacity. The atmosphere there was just awesome. Quote from Andrew:" Awe...soooommmmee.."

The Man Utd and Msia players. So small...can't see who is who...

The next few pics is taken during the match....

MU won 3-2, courtesy of goals from Rooney, Nani and Owen. It was a well contested match though, with Msia team rising from 2 goals down to even out the game at 2-2. Apparently Msia forgot that Owen is still a goal poacher and didn't keep him out.

Oh well.

The atmosphere at the stadium was just mesmerising, and the feeling of shouting, screaming and cursing with the supporters there was great and memorable. We felt like like a family. No, we ARE a family.

And there was one special thing that night. Nobody, I repeat, nobody in that whole big stadium will ever have this with them during the match. My lucky charm, specially from up-above :)

Anyhow i will still be going to Old Trafford, because that is home. I am coming home!!
